I spared a glance towards the other two garments lying on my bed beside the tunic: the black-and-gray cloak of invisibility and the pale brown pants that served as a counterpart to the tunic I had infused. I pulled it tight around my head and shoulders and tried to distract myself by trying to imagine what the tunic would look like when it was done. My body shivered at the lose of the tunic's warmth and I pulled the quilt at the foot of my bed over. ' I wonder what you'll look like when you're done.' I thought before I folded the tunic and set it aside. The color around the collar and the sleeves had darkened ever so slightly while in other places it had begun to lighten. I pulled my hands off and away from the tunic and looked over the small changes that had been made. The tunic I was infusing with steadiness and durability and resilience had once been an old, faded, sweat shirt that had slowly transitioned to what it was now. It possessed a gradient that ranged from black to light grey, depending on the lighting.

It was a gradual alteration - something that took careful attention to even spot - that generally took a few sessions to begin to change the object to what it should be.įor example, the sheet that I had infused with invisibility and concealment had slowly been altered into a dark colored cloth.

I had quickly learned that, in addition to infusing the objects I was touching with the concept I was think about, my power altered that object's properties to better reflect it. I watched the energy alter the tunic with each passing wave. I didn't pay much attention to it, however: I focused on the tunic as the energy poured out of my hands in a rush and wash over the tunic in invisible waves of energy. It left a faint warm, tingling, sensation that gradually faded into a numb coldness. I felt the energy flow up towards and then down towards my shoulders on the way to my hands. It bubbled up from my stomach and into my chest and I held it until I couldn't. I thought about the faint stirrings of steadiness and durability and resilience that I felt within it and felt something build within me in response. I sat down on my bed and spread the tunic out and over my legs before I carefully laid my palms down on it. I felt an immediate rush of warmth as I touched it, like I had just stepped into a warm bath, that gradually faded. I looked them over for a few moments before I picked up what a pale brown tunic. Once I had the garments in hand, I walked over to my bed and spread them out. So, I left the backpack behind and walked towards my closet before I reached for the folded garments hidden within. I had some homework that I would need to do, but I didn't have a lot of it and what I did have hadn't sounded that difficult: I could put it off until later, after I had finished.

I shut the door carefully before I took off my backpack and allowed it to fall to the floor.
